We arrived Tuesday at 2:30pm safe and sound at Seneca College and lugged all our luggage to our rooms and unloaded the music equipment from the vans. Our first worship session began at 7:30pm with some ice breakers and the band opening up for us with a few songs. Jason Hutchins is our main speaker this week and over the last three nights he has been sharing with us about God’s love and how much He loves us and do we really know and understand how much He loves us.
Wednesday mornings session was learning about seeing people through God’s eyes. Some of the questions we were challenged to think about was God does God see You? and how are you being challenged to see others as God sees them? Our afternoon activity yesterday was to go on a prayer walk and pray for the people we passed by, or the businesses we passed by, or stop and talk with people and pray for them.
Thursday morning was learning about listening and how to listen to God and to people. The questions that were asked this morning were ‘how does God speak to you?’ and ‘how can you show others you are really listening?’ Our afternoon activity was to go to Frontlines, an after school youth program. A lot of us were anticipating to meet the kids, hang out with them, listen to their stories. However when we got there they were closed as they were getting ready for kids camp. So the workers were there, but not the kids. God had something else in store for us! We were able to help them clean the entire room they rent. We cleaned their fridge, carpets, mopped. Picked up garbage outside, cleaned toilets, walls, cupboards and more. It is now spic and span!!! At the very end, we were asking questions about the youth home and all of a sudden about 6 youth came by and wanted to come in and see who we were. So a few of the guys from our group went outside and played basketball with them. The kids were so excited that our youth took the time to play. Friday we had the opportunity to go downtown to a park on Canada Day and pass out water bottles and balloons and a couple of us did some face painting. Our evening was a night off, so after dinner we started walking towards the Eaton’s Centre, when we came across a table and a few men who were Muslim, so we started talking with them and asked them questions about their literature and what they were handing out. For two hours, our group had the opportunity to share the Gospel with these men and as we were standing there, others passing by, came and started to get in on the conversations too. We had some people talking to us that were Christians, some atheists and some well we’re not sure where they stood in their beliefs. One man was very intense talking to a group of our kids about his beliefs, so after talking with him for about 30 minutes, they prayed for him and after they prayed, he calmed right down. God was showing us the power of prayer! No one came to Christ that night, but many seeds were planted and watered!
Saturday we had the opportunity to go to Yorkdale Mall and witness to people in the mall. This was out of our comfort zones for a lot of us, but we were able to pray with some people and witness as well.
