We have arrived

Hola, well we have finally arrived in Siguqtepeque, Honduras.

Our flight to Minneapolis on Sunday went fairly well, despite the thunderstorm and turbulance we had to go through, but we made it safely to the ground. We stayed over night in Bloomington and caught another flight at 8am to Miami. WOW what a big state. Dave and Esther had arrived a little before we did as our flight was later landing. I reccognized Dave quickly around the starbucks coffee area and than met up with Esther. Our last flight together was very smooth.

Upon arriving into San Pedro, Sula it was surprisingly not as hot as Miami, but it was getting dark and it was only 5pm. Coming from SK where it doesn't get dark till around 9-10pm it was a change. We all packed our luggage into Ken Vissers truck and headed up the mountain to our new home for 6 weeks. We wished it was day time when we were driving because we could only see dark mounds of mountain and hills ahead of us. It is gorgeous here. It took about 2 hours for us to drive to the camp, so when we arrived we were pretty pooped and ready to hit the sack.

Dave and Esther took us to our place first. There is a girl living where we are too, so we are sharing this house together. Her name is Corrina and she has been a teacher here for two years. So basically we are house sitting this beautiful house for a missionary couple that are on furlow. It is about a 10 min. walk uphill to the camp.

This morning we were able to sleep in and catch up on some needed rest. Later we heard the door bell ring at the front gate and we were welcomed by some children who wanted to meet the NEW white people :-) They were very cute. So we have already met some of the neighbours and will continue to meet them on our walks to and from the camp. It's funny because as we walk by some families were opening the door just to see who it was walking by. They new we were new! We do have to be careful about the dogs too. They roam freely so we usually keep rocks in our hands just in case.

We ate lunch at the camp today and than had our meeting to prepare us for the kids coming to a three day kids camp starting this Thursday afternoon at which Will will be leading the worship and speaking. Right now there are two churches here from the US to help us out, which is great. We expect about 40-50 students to show up on Thursday.

I am on a different computer right now than ours, so I will have to post some pictures at another time.

Thank you for your prayers. We really felt them as we travelled and please continue to pray for strength from day to day and good health. For those of you who have been praying for my tooth, thank you and please keep praying that the Lord would heal the pain. It is still bothering me, but the funny thing is that Esther and Sue are having teeth problems too, so we are kind of in the same boat right now.

Until next time. I will try to get pictures up ASAP.

Love Mel and Will
